What We Teach
Lion’s Den Day School is a Type III center that works closely with the Louisiana Department of Education and the Calcasieu Parish School Board. We currently offer three classes.
At Lion’s Den Day School we use the Frog Street curriculum, which you can learn more about here. For our preK program, we use the DIG curriculum, which can be seen here. Our staff is trained in our curriculum by the Louisiana Department of Education. Parents can access an online portal that allows them to do activities at home that support what we do at school. As a parent, you will get to see all the fun and engaging activities we do with your child.
We assess children regularly using the Teaching Strategies Gold framework (TS Gold), which helps us set goals and communicate each child’s progress in:
- fine and gross motor skills,
- language development,
- early literacy,
- early numeracy and math,
- social and emotional abilities,
- cognitive skills.
At our school, children are encouraged to be children. Through a mixture of hands-on experiences, group activities, and individual play, our children develop all the skills and independence necessary for growth and in life. We also try to get outside as much as possible and apply real-life lessons to our learning.
